Hello Zonebbs users,
I thought I should tell you a little about a story I'm writing. It's about a father of two kids who takes his wife, kids, and friends on vacation too Denver in Colorado. This story is full of adventure. I'm hoping you'd want too know more about this wonderful book. It's written by yours truly. Come check it out.

He takes his wife, kids AND friends? certainly sounds like he's quite well-off. Beyond that though, what kind of story is this? Do you have a link to a sample so we can read it, or are you just letting usknow you're writing one? If the latter, congratulations, and I wish you all the best.

I'm just letting you guys know. I don't have a link. If you want too read it, I'd need too give you my email address and it would have too be emailed too you. But only if you know how too open attachments.

There's no non-jerk way to say this, but if you are trying to get strangers to
read a book you wrote, or are writing, it helps to use proper grammar. Too,
means also, you used it as a preposition. Not your best foot forward if you want
me to give you my time reading your book. If you did it once, it could have
been brushed off, but that is literally the only spelling of the three versions of
the word that you used, and none of them were correct except when you said
"his two kids." Every other time you used that word, you used it incorrectly; in
both posts you've made.

You're just mean. I have been working hard on this book and book 2. The least you people can do is read it.

Post 6 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 08-Dec-2016 13:05:46

As an author myself, no one owes you their readership, no matter how hard
you've been working on it. Especially if you don't even put your best foot
forward in advertising for it.

Post 7 by Shepherdwolf (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 08-Dec-2016 13:55:48

When I first read this, my very first thought is "What's a vation?".
Then I read the description, saw the writing style anc consistent spelling issues, and I understood.

As someone else who writes, I can second what Cody said. You don't get readership just because you ask for it. When you make something for the sake of entertainment, you have to "sell" it. And in this case, by selling, I mean you have to convince people that their time will be well-spent. Hook them. Get them interested. And of course, do your best to make sure that their experience is a good one. If you're a musician, try and make sure you're singing/playing in key, keeping rhythm and recording with good enough equipment that your music can be heard fairly clearly. If you're a writer, make sure that your work is as free of spelling and grammar mistakes as possible, and that you're putting your best foot forward trying to explain your story while trying to advertise for it. Put another way, if you don't do these things, and if people can get a good idea of your shortcomings before they even bother to investigate the story (as they surely can here), you're shooting yourself in the foot.
That's not meanness, it's critical honesty. If you want people to take you seriously, you have to prove that they ought to do so.

They're right, Beautiful Girl. Take it from another writer who is semi-serious. If you're expecting people to immediately jump at reading what you post, and only telling you "this is soooo amazing", not only will you be sorely disappointed, but you'll also never learn from the mistakes you make. People who fawn without any feedback do the writer a grave disservice. Even the famous writers of the world get constructive criticism. That's how they get better. Nobody publishes something on the first draft. The stuff we read? It's gone through multiple edits. People aren't attacking you just because they aren't fawning all over your stuff. Also doesn't help that you ... sort of make people jump through hoops to read it. I get that if you don't want to publicly display your work for the whole world to see. But giving at least a sample so people can decide if they want to read it would really help you. Doesn't even have to be long. Now, I post my writing on this site to very limited readership. It's frustrating when you're looking for feedback and aren't able to receive it. But know that when you do receive criticism, it isn't against you, or even what you're writing most of the time. You ask people to read something, you're implying you want some feedback. Use that feedback and get better. But if you're going to do anything creative and have people listen to/read it, you need to stop taking things so personally. Please. And one way we get people to read our stuff is by being able to use proper grammer and spelling. Cody is right in your use of t o, t o o and t w o. That's very basic. Don't take his words personally. I was going to say the same thing, except I'm sort of soft hearted when I don't know the person.

I give it up. You guys win.

Don't let a few random strangers get you down. If you want to write, write. If you want feedback, why not try somewhere like fictionpress, a site geared towards writers of all sorts. You can post, AND if you want, you can edit or even remove your posts. Then hey, link that posting here. A lot more people will be willing to click on a link than they would be to jump through hoops. And don't feel too bad, very few people look at my stuff I post here either. Most people who put themselves out there on this site get that reaction. it's not just you. Though your aditude towards people probably doesn't help. Just know that positive glowing reviews are not just going to fall into your lap.

Okay Beautiful Girl. I do too. I like to see people succeed. But I can do nothing more for you in your current state. I'm sorry you feel so attacked. I hope you'll realize one day that we were not attacking you. All the best.

Yeah sure.

Post 15 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 10-Dec-2016 11:24:59

I"m just gonna say. if you can't handle someone not liking your work, stop
writing. Or at least stop letting people see it. you have to have a thicker skin
than that if you want to be any kind of artist.

quit begging for attention. because I promise when you act like that, you will not get the attention you want here. your going to be treated how you act, like an attention seeking child who doesn't like it when people don't go along with the tone of her posts.

Post 18 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 13-Dec-2016 14:06:36

really? it seems like this board is gonna go on and on. *sigh* why did I bother posting? :p
Anyways, we're trying to be helpful here. You hate our advice... then why did you post?

Post 19 by beautiful girl (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 13-Dec-2016 14:20:57

I'm not sure, but I've moved on. I'm doing other stuff now.

Post 20 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 13-Dec-2016 14:54:56

You can't both post and have moved on. If you'd moved on, you wouldn't look
at this post to see what comments have been made, and you certainly wouldn't
reply to them. That's continuing the conversation. You can't have it both ways.

Post 21 by sia fan bp (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 13-Dec-2016 15:21:58

well said, Cody. Yeah... prove that you have moved on by I know, not posting here?
